PIXELS LAUNCHES NEW signEdje HD
DIGITAL SIGNAGE PLAYER FOR
UK and EUROPEAN MARKETS

April 21 , 2008.
Pixels UK Ltd. announces the immediate availability of the signEdje HD and SD digital signage media player with local and streamed MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2 decode and playback capabilities.  Pixels is distributing and supporting the new player for US manufacturer Adtec Digital Inc.  The end-user price is £1435.00 + VAT.

Said Norman Garland of Pixels, “We are very pleased to be distributing and supporting the new signEdje HD and SD media players.  Adtec Digital is a world-leading designer and manufacturer of technology for digital television delivery, IP streaming, ad insertion and multimedia digital video applications. The signEdje must be the smallest professional HD media player currently on the market, measuring just 145mm x 267mm x 32mm and weighing just 1.8Kg.”

The signEdje players replace the displayMate products, announced earlier, following a trademark dispute with the current owners of the DisplayMate name. Applications for the player include digital signage, private IPTV networks, presentations, theatre and staging, entertainment, retail point-of-sale, museums, and exhibitions.

The signEdje delivers high-quality HD playback in a compact, rugged package.  All HD media encoded to MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 and MPEG-2 standards up to 25Mbps can be decoded and is outputted through a DVI-I connector.  Audio is available as analogue stereo.  SD media up to 15Mbps can be up-scaled to a maximum of 1080i60 or played back without scaling in PAL or NTSC format.  Up to 4 hours of media in MPEG-4 format can be stored in the unit’s 8GB solid-state memory card. An 80GB laptop hard drive option will be offered later. The signEdje has a standard 10/100Mbps network connection for fast loading and streaming reception of HD and SD media.  An RS-232 interface is included for full control of all playback, API and configuration functions.  The parallel port provides inputs for push-buttons and sensors, removing the need for a separate and costly show-controller.

Any number of signEdje players can be networked together for reliable, frame-accurate, synchronised playback of HD and SD media.  An optional mounting kit allows the signEdje to be securely fitted to the rear of a large LCD or plasma display panel for distributed digital signage and public information display applications.  The player is completely solid-state, without cooling fans and has a separate 12VDC power supply making it ideal for mobile applications and temporary installations.

The signEdje is supplied with MediaControl software that allows HD and SD media to be loaded and managed from a PC, Mac or Linux system anywhere on the network.  Playlists and schedules can be set up and the player controlled and managed with ease.
